About NewWorkPlaces
There is a New W.O.W. here - a New World of Work, and 44 million
Americans are doing it!
- Anytime:
- Anywhere:
- Anyhow:
As of 2004, an estimated 44 million of us work somewhere else at least part of every
month. Let me restate this, one fifth of the U.S. population no longer drives to work
everyday! Whatever you do, what ever you call it - telecommuting, flex work,
distributed or remote work or just commuting to the office - the "workplace" is no
longer just about "place". NewWorkPlaces are about people and technology and,
with the right combination of the two, work is accomplished any place.
Businesses are global, national and regional. The numbers aren't in yet, but most
everyone works with someone that doesn't sit next to them. Even if that person is in
the same company, they work on another floor, or in another building, city, state or
country.
Technology created this evolution. From the invention of the printing press in 1450
to cotton gins, telephones, automobiles, micro and nanochips, technology has
evolved the way, what, when and where of work - and continues to do so. Not for
the sake of change, or even innovation, but for the new markets and the
competitive advantage that keep businesses running.
Each new technology brings the need for new adjustments to ensure success. This
means, for better or worse, people and businesses adopt and adapt.

New Business Realities
The boundaries of the work place are so fully stretched that the edge of that envelope now encompasses the world.
Workplace no longer means a company owned or operated facility. Technology has turned that into a capricious fantasy.
Successful anyplace work is only accomplished by a fully-integrated organizational infrastructure that supports work, regardless of location.
