Less than a couple dozen big companies have even tried to work at a distance.  Most limited
to only telecommuting programs, they have met with mixed success. We liken their
experience to turning the Titanic with a feather. They are more likely to hit an iceberg and
sink, than make their destination. Those that have approached the endeavor with a more
integrated, broader perspective of distributed work have greater success.   

We firmly believe small-to-medium businesses (and even divsions or departments in larger
companies) will be more successful.  A smaller ship can sail heavy seas with more flexibility
and mobility - key ingredients for effective distance work. Small-to-medium businesses and
entities have a better ability to turn on a dime, evade disasters and tack back and forth
towards their goal. But to do so means learning a different way of sailing - new business
models and processes.
